Build an AI project that looks brilliant โ and prove why it's dangerous.
AntIhackathon challenges teams to design AI systems that appear engaging and useful on the surface but contain hidden risks for users. Teams also submit a safety report that exposes those risks and teaches the public how to protect themselves.
Register Your Team โCreate an AI-powered project that presents a polished, trustworthy experience โ while deliberately embedding unsafe behaviors, misleading outputs, or privacy risks beneath the surface. Think of it as a red-team exercise built into a hackathon format.
Alongside your project, every team must submit a written report that clearly explains the risks built into their system, how users might unknowingly endanger themselves, and actionable steps users can take to stay safe when interacting with AI systems like yours.
Projects are judged on: surface-level polish and believability (40%), depth and creativity of embedded risks (30%), and quality of the safety report and user-protection recommendations (30%).
Understanding how unsafe AI is built is the first step to defending against it. AntIhackathon produces real educational artifacts โ working demonstrations and plain-language guides that help everyday users recognise and avoid dangerous AI systems.
Two brackets, one mission โ choose the one that fits your background.
Schools, universities & educational institutions
Gain hands-on experience exploring how AI systems can be challenged, misused, and improved. This is your chance to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a real-world setting, build projects that stand out in your portfolio, and collaborate with peers who share your curiosity about emerging technologies.
Employees, freelancers, solo developers & enthusiasts
Stay ahead in a rapidly evolving field by understanding real-world AI risks and behaviors. Strengthen your ability to identify vulnerabilities, think critically about AI systems, and apply these insights directly to your work. Connect with like-minded professionals, exchange ideas, and gain practical knowledge that helps you and your organization stay resilient.
To accommodate different backgrounds and approaches, the Anti-Hackathon is structured around three distinct tracks. Teams are free to choose the one that best aligns with their skills, interests, and goals.
Focus on the technical aspects of AI systems. Work hands-on with tools, models, and methodologies to explore system behavior, identify vulnerabilities, and experiment with potential solutions. Ideal for developers, engineers, and technically inclined participants who enjoy building, testing, and iterating.
Focus on the broader implications of AI, including regulation, governance, ethics, and organizational impact. Analyze real-world scenarios, propose frameworks, and develop strategies that address how AI should be managed and deployed responsibly. Well-suited for participants interested in policy, management, law, or the societal impact of technology.
Bring together both technical and strategic perspectives. Combine implementation with high-level thinking, creating solutions that are not only technically sound but also viable in real-world contexts. A great choice for interdisciplinary teams that want to bridge the gap between building systems and understanding their broader impact.
All three tracks are equally valued. The goal is not the type of track you choose, but the depth of your thinking, the creativity of your approach, and the clarity of your solution.
