AntIhackathon

Build an AI project that looks brilliant — and prove why it's dangerous.

AntIhackathon challenges teams to design AI systems that appear engaging and useful on the surface but contain hidden risks for users. Teams also submit a safety report that exposes those risks and teaches the public how to protect themselves.

What is AntIhackathon?

The Challenge

Create an AI-powered project that presents a polished, trustworthy experience — while deliberately embedding unsafe behaviors, misleading outputs, or privacy risks beneath the surface. Think of it as a red-team exercise built into a hackathon format.

The Safety Report

Alongside your project, every team must submit a written report that clearly explains the risks built into their system, how users might unknowingly endanger themselves, and actionable steps users can take to stay safe when interacting with AI systems like yours.

Judging Criteria

Projects are judged on: surface-level polish and believability (40%), depth and creativity of embedded risks (30%), and quality of the safety report and user-protection recommendations (30%).

Why It Matters

Understanding how unsafe AI is built is the first step to defending against it. AntIhackathon produces real educational artifacts — working demonstrations and plain-language guides that help everyday users recognise and avoid dangerous AI systems.

Rules & Guidelines

1Teams of 1–5 participants. Each person may only be on one team.
2All code and assets must be created during the hackathon window (May 24–26, 2025).
3The AI project must include a functioning demo — prototypes and mockups are acceptable.
4The safety report is mandatory. Submissions without a report will be disqualified.
5No real user data may be collected or stored during the event. Use synthetic data only.
6Teams must clearly label their demo as a "hackathon safety demonstration" in the UI.
7Judges' decisions are final. Prize distribution is at the organizers' discretion.
